INDUSTRY:

The United Arab Emirates' (U.A.E.) main industries are oil, agriculture, transport, construction, financial services, communications, government services, tourism and the manufacturing of aluminium, cement, fertilisers, chemicals, shiprepairs and pharmaceuticals. The principal crops include aubergines, melons, tomatoes and dates.

In order to attract overseas trade several Free Zones, where companies can trade tax free, are in operation and there is no corporate or personal taxation, except on foreign banks and oil companies.

The U.A.E. is a federation of seven emirates - Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah, Ajman, Fujairah, Umm Al Qaiwain. It is the third largest oil producer in the Gulf after Saudi Arabia and Iran.
