Traditionally the main activities of the Omani people were agriculture and fishing which remain an important part of the economy, with Oman catching the largest number of fish of any country in the Arabian Gulf. In order to alleviate Oman’s dependency on the oil industry, a programme is being put in place to stimulate growth in other industries, such as manufacturing.
