INDUSTRY:
Production in the agricultural industry has greatly improved with the modernisation of production and irrigation infrastructure. The main crops are Olives, Fruit, Wheat, Vegetables and Barley. The discovery in the North East of natural gas reserves have provided electricity, since 1989, for the National Grid.
Following the implementation of reforms such as a programme to reduce foreign debt, Jordan has enjoyed economic success. The extension of the Free Zone system, introduction of tax incentives and relaxed investment procedures have encouraged investment.
