INDUSTRY:
Polished diamonds account for a large percentage of the country's exports. The majority of land in Israel is fertile and lends itself to the large scale production of 'Jaffa' oranges, summer fruits, seasonal vegetables and other glasshouse crops. Other significant industries include textiles, foodstuffs and chemicals.
Israel's important manufacturing industries include plastics, rubber, glass, paper and oil refining and depends on imports of crude oil, grains, raw materials, and military equipment.
