INDUSTRY:
Afghanistan is believed to have considerable fuel reserves and other natural resources include salt, silver, copper, lead, rubies, coal, iron, lapis lazuli, gold, chrome, barit, uranium and talc.
80% of the population is involved in subsistence farming, producing wheat, fruits, nuts, mutton, wool and lamb and sheepskins.
There are small scale industries producing carpets, furniture, soap, textiles, cement, shoes and fertilizers.
